The Golden Tarot
by Kat Black
United States Games Systems, March 2004

It's always a wonderful surprise when you come across a new a striking new tarot deck that takes you into a new area of art or design.

Kat Black (artist/author of Golden Tarot) says:

Golden Tarot has been collaged completely from artwork of the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance.

From a time of violence, pestilence and oppression came poignant images of gentle beauty and human frailty.

They speak to me of a truth that is timeless, and hope that flowers even in the darkest conditions. I hope that they also speak to you.

About the Author:
Kat Black is an author, artist and webmaster. She lives in Australia.

Cards Description:
Comprised of collage imagery from the European masters paintings, these Tarot cards pay tribute to artwork of the Middle Ages and early Renaissance celebrating the exploration of tarot and its artistic heritage.

The Fortune-Telling Book: The Encyclopedia of Divination and Soothsaying
by Raymond Buckland
Visible Ink Press, January 2004

I was very pleased to get my hands on this newly published Encyclopedia. After reading through it, I can see that this book is destined to become a classic! There are quite a few encyclopedias on the market that deal with the subject but this one is the most comprehensive one around. For anyone who is serious about their divination, I can recommend they add this book to their collection!

From the back cover:

A preoccupation of humankind for thousands of years, divination, or fortune-telling is practiced in all cultures. What was once the prerogative of the shaman, and later became the jurisdiction of the priest, has today become the tool of anyone who has the inclination to try it. Tarot cards are read by all and sundry; astrological charts are cast and palms are scrutinized; crystal-gazers peer into the past, present and future, but also the uncovering of secrets of the past and present.

In this definitive encyclopedia, best-selling Wicca seer and Gypsy mystic Raymond Buckland describes the intuitive art of prognostication. An A-Z exploration of all that peers intotomorrow, The Fortune-Telling Book details more than 400 events, people, and techniques essential to understanding the ancient practice.

The Fortune-Telling Book provides detailed explanations of the various soothsaying methods. Written in clear, concise language, The Encyclopedia of Divination and Soothsaying discusses everything from Aeromancy — seeing by observing atmospheric phenomena — to Zoomancy — divination by the appearance or behavior of animals. With more than 100 illustrations, The Encyclopedia includes a detailed index and additional reading section.

One of the world's foremost experts on the occult, Raymond Buckland has been studying fortune-telling, Witchcraft, Gypsy magic, and other aspects of the supernatural for more than half a century and is credited with introducing modern Witchcraft into the United States.
